Google’s Pixel smartphones are renowned for their advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and impressive camera functionalities, driven by sophisticated photography tools. While the Pixel 8a is slated for launch next month, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the unveiling of the Pixel 9 series by year’s end.

Numerous rumors surround the upcoming Pixel 9 Series, hinting at potential new features in Google’s flagship offering. According to reports, Google is poised to integrate satellite connectivity into the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, mirroring Apple’s Emergency SOS functionality.

As per insights from Android Authority, Google is set to introduce a novel safety feature in its latest Pixel 9 series, akin to Apple’s SOS, to provide users with a safety net during emergencies. The tech giant has revealed plans to equip the Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 chipset with a new Samsung Modem 5400, an upgrade from the Samsung 5300 modem utilized in the Pixel 8 series.

Anticipated to offer enhanced stability, the new 5400 modem is expected to support Android’s native satellite implementation through upgraded software. Google aims to collaborate with T-Mobile initially for this feature, with other carriers expected to follow suit. Additionally, Google plans to extend this SOS emergency feature to the Pixel Fold 2 and a 5G-enabled Pixel Tablet.
